Planned Parenthood: Beating Heart

O Preacher“Do you want to see something kind of cool?”  O’Donnell (a Planned Parenthood technician) describes what her supervisor showed her:  “And she just taps the heart (of the intact aborted baby), and it starts beating.”  O’Donnell claims her supervisor then told her to cut through the face to get the brain.

This 7th video from the Center for Medical Progress is graphic, barbaric and sickening.  Frankly, I don’t care if what Planned Parenthood is doing is illegal or not.  Nor do I care to debate when human life begins.  The debate itself a deceitful diversion from the obvious.  At conception, what other kind of life can that “fetus” be but human?  Intact human babies—outside the womb— being cut up for parts!

Defenders drag out every self-justifying rationale in the book.  With straight faces our political leaders assure us tax dollars are not used for abortions.  So, if you have $5 and I add to your money by giving you $5 more, but insist you not use my $5 to buy cigarettes, and you use your $5 for cigarettes, have you obeyed my instructions?

We care for women, Planned Parenthood chants.  But none of them blink an eye when females are aborted!  Hypocrites!

America, wake up!  Repent in tears!  We are killing millions of babies!  The holy God, in whose image these sacred lives have been created, will not hold back his wrath forever!

Whoever sheds the blood of man,
by man shall his blood be shed,
for God made man in his own image (Genesis 9:6).

Planned Parenthood: Without Consent

O PreacherSome women didn’t consent to their aborted baby’s parts being sold to researchers.  But they were sold anyway.  That’s what this sixth video from the Center for Medical Progress reveals.

Abortion, though legal, is the moral depravity here.  Not allowing women to consent to the sale of their aborted baby’s parts is illegal.  Yet, as this video alleges, Planned Parenthood commonly disregards the law.  And all the time, we are helping fund the moral and legal crime by paying taxes.

I’ll say it flat out:  Christians should never elect a President or Congressman who is not openly and without question pro-life.  Since Roe v. Wade, over 58 million babies have been aborted.  Since 1970 almost 7 million have been aborted by Planned Parenthood.  (Your taxes and mine have helped fund those murders.)

If you’re a Donald Trump fan, please note the following facts:

1. Even though [Trump] recently called for defunding Planned Parenthood, he is now saying that he’s open to funding those parts of Planned Parenthood that do not involve abortion. But this is not a good argument. He’s a businessman, so I assume he understands that money is fungible [mutually interchangeable]. And that is why we cannot tolerate a single dime of federal money going to Planned Parenthood. But Trump argued otherwise yesterday. His remarks led the The Daily Beast to declare that “Donald Trump is Planned Parenthood’s Favorite Republican.” His openness to support Planned Parenthood in any measure is not a pro-life position.

2. Trump claims to be pro-life, but the position he laid out yesterday on CNN follows pro-abortion logic. In his own words:

“I am pro-life and I am strongly about pro-life, but I also feel that you go with the exceptions… I’m for the exceptions and the health of the mother and the life of the mother and so is Ronald Reagan for the exceptions, by the way.”

Did you catch that? He said that he not only favors exceptions for rape, incest, and life of the mother but also for the “health” of the mother. Anyone who knows anything about the legal situation on abortion understands that the Supreme Court has interpreted “health” so broadly that it allows abortion for any reason at any stage of pregnancy. Does Trump realize that he not only just made the case for funding Planned Parenthood but also for the continuation of Roe v. Wade? This is unacceptable. I suppose it is possible that he didn’t realize what he was saying, but ignorance on abortion politics is equally unacceptable.

This is a time for visionary prolife leadership, not for dithering and weakness in the face of Planned Parenthood’s mounting body count. We need to watch the videos, and we need to watch our politicians. There is much at stake. (the previous two points cited from Denny Burke  http://www.dennyburk.com/the-sixth-video-and-the-need-for-visionary-prolife-leadership/).

Amen! And Amen!

Planned Parenthood: Deeper the Darkness

O Preacher How did you react to this latest video?  Ashamed to admit, I got bored during the discussion with the research director—ashamed because they were discussing the sale of aborted babies!  How could I be so callous?

That’s what happens, though.  It doesn’t take long until shocking news becomes ho-hum news.  Frog in the pot with the water’s heat slowly rising.  Being boiled to death, but, used to warming water, he doesn’t realize it!

My reaction changed when we got to the lab.  Back came sickening shock.

Below is the press release about the video.  Beneath that is a link about how to refute Planned Parenthood’s defenses.  Both are worth reading!  I reduced my remarks to make time for them.  One Scripture first—a warning with which we shouldn’t trifle . . .

“Whoever sheds man’s blood,
By man his blood shall be shed,
For in the image of God
He made man.” – Gen 9:6

HOUSTON, Aug. 4–The fifth undercover video in the controversy over Planned Parenthood’s sale of aborted baby parts shows the Director of Research for Planned Parenthood Gulf Coast, Melissa Farrell, advertising the Texas Planned Parenthood branch’s track record of fetal tissue sales, including its ability to deliver fully intact fetuses.

In the video, actors posing as representatives from a human biologics company meet with Farrell at the abortion-clinic headquarters of Planned Parenthood Gulf Coast in Houston to discuss a potential partnership to harvest fetal organs.

“Where we probably have an edge over other organizations, our organization has been doing research for many many years,” explains Farrell. When researchers need a specific part from the aborted fetus, Farrell says, “We bake that into our contract, and our protocol, that we follow this, so we deviate from our standard in order to do that.”

Asked specifically if this means Planned Parenthood Gulf Coast can change abortion procedures to supply intact fetal specimens, Farrell affirms, “Some of our doctors in the past have projects and they’re collecting the specimens, so they do it in a way that they get the best specimens, so I know it can happen.”

The investigators ask Farrell how she will frame a contract in which they pay a higher price for higher quality fetal body parts, and she replies, “We can work it out in the context of–obviously, the procedure itself is more complicated,” suggesting that “without having you cover the procedural cost” and paying for the abortion, the higher specimen price could be framed as “additional time, cost, administrative burden.”

Farrell finally summarizes her affiliate’s approach to fetal tissue payments: “If we alter our process, and we are able to obtain intact fetal cadavers, we can make it part of the budget that any dissections are this, and splitting the specimens into different shipments is this. It’s all just a matter of line items.”

The sale or purchase of human fetal tissue is a federal felony punishable by up to 10 years in prison or a fine of up to $500,000 (42 U.S.C. 289g-2). Federal law also requires that no alteration in the timing or method of abortion be done for the purposes of fetal tissue collection (42 U.S.C. 289g-1).

Farrell also indicates to the investigators over lunch that the specimen sales from her department contribute significantly to Planned Parenthood Gulf Coast’s overall finances: “I think everyone realizes, especially because my department contributes so much to the bottom line of our organization here, you know we’re one of the largest affiliates, our Research Department is the largest in the United States. Larger than any the other affiliates’ combined.” In a Texas Senate hearing on July 29, former Planned Parenthood Gulf Coast clinic director Abby Johnson estimated that the affiliate had previously made up to $120,000 per month off of aborted fetal tissue.

The video is the fifth by The Center for Medical Progress documenting Planned Parenthood’s sale of aborted fetal parts. Project Lead David Daleiden notes: “This is now the fifth member of Planned Parenthood leadership discussing payments for aborted baby parts without any connection to actual costs of so-called tissue ‘donation.’ Planned Parenthood’s system-wide conspiracy to evade the law and make money off of aborted fetal tissue is now undeniable.” Daleiden continues, “Anyone who watches these videos knows that Planned Parenthood is engaged in barbaric practices and human rights abuses that must end. There is no reason for an organization that uses illegal abortion methods to sell baby parts and commit such atrocities against humanity to still receive over $500 million each year from taxpayers.”

For help in refuting defenses of Planned Parenthood and critiques of the videos, go here. It addresses the four categories of allegations: (1) it’s a hoax; (2) the videos are edited; (3) the means are dishonest; and (4) pro-lifers are trying to take away the good things Planned Parenthood does.

Yesterday (August 3, 2015), the U.S. Senate failed to invoke cloture on S.1881, a bill to prohibit federal funding of Planned Parenthood Federation of America.

Human Life in the Womb!

O Preacher I’m tired of hearing news anchors say, “Call it a fetus or a baby.  Whatever your belief system says.”  They say that like we get to decide!  And as if one choice is as good as another!

Below I’ve copied Jason Taylor’s blog, “Between Two Worlds”.  (http://www.thegospelcoalition.org/blogs/justintaylor/2015/07/31/what-happens-month-by-month-within-the-womb/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+between2worlds+%28Between+Two+Worlds%29).  Thanks to him for publishing this!

Please read carefully the summary of what happens in the womb during pregnancy.  It should convince everyone but the most ardent ideologue (or greedy profiteer) that this life is human.  If you had doubts before, this will convince you.  And I’ll bet you’ll find it hard to watch the video above without getting teary-eyed at the wonderful handiwork of God and the abominable ways we’ve slaughtered millions of his creations!

* * * * *

Francis Beckwith, Professor of Philosophy and Church-State Studies, and Co-Director of the Program in Philosophical Studies of Religion in the Institute for Studies of Religion, at Baylor University in Waco, Texas, is the author of Defending Life: A Moral and Legal Case Against Abortion Choice (Cambridge University Press, 2007), the most sophisticated and compelling book on the subject.

In an article he once summarized what happens in the womb throughout a pregnancy:

First Month

Beckwith begins at the beginning:

Pregnancy begins at conception, the time at which the male sperm and the female ovum unite.

What results is called a zygote, a one-celled biological entity, a stage in human development through which each of us has passed (just as we have passed through infancy, childhood, and adolescence).

It is a misnomer to refer to this entity as a “fertilized ovum.” For both ovum and sperm, which are genetically each a part of its owner (mother and father, respectively), cease to exist at the moment of conception.

There is no doubt, he says, that the zygote is biologically alive:

It fulfills the four criteria needed to establish biological life:

  1. metabolism
  2. growth
  3. reaction to stimuli
  4. reproduction.

Beckwith gives two reasons we know that this life is fully human:

First, the human conceptus — that which results from conception and begins as a zygote — is the sexual product of human parents. Hence, insofar as having human causes, the conceptus is human.

Second, not only is the conceptus human insofar as being caused by humans, it is a unique human individual, just as each of us is.

Resulting from the union of the female ovum (which contains 23 chromosomes) and the male sperm (which contains 23 chromosomes), the conceptus is a new — although tiny — individual. It has its own unique genetic code (with forty-six chromosomes), which is neither the mother’s nor the father’s. From this point until death, no new genetic information is needed to make the unborn entity a unique individual human. Her (or his) genetic make-up is established at conception, determining her unique individual physical characteristics — gender, eye color, bone structure, hair color, skin color, susceptibility to certain diseases, etc. That is to say, at conception, the “genotype” — the inherited characteristics of a unique human being — is established and will remain in force for the entire life of this individual.

Although sharing the same nature with all human beings, the unborn individual, like each one of us, is unlike any that has been conceived before and unlike any that will ever be conceived again. The only thing necessary for the growth and development of this human organism (as with the rest of us) is oxygen, food, and water, since this organism — like the newborn, the infant, and the adolescent — needs only to develop in accordance with her already-designed nature that is present at conception.

This is why French geneticist Jermoe L. LeJeune, while testifying before a Senate Subcommittee, asserted: “To accept the fact that after fertilization has taken place a new human has come into being is no longer a matter of taste or opinion. The human nature of the human being from conception to old age is not a metaphysical contention, it is plain experimental evidence.”

Beckwith applies this to each of us:

There is hence no doubt that the development of a unique individual human life begins at conception. It is vital that you — the reader — understand that

  • you did not come from a zygote, you once were a zygote;
  • you did not come from an embryo, you once were an embryo;
  • you did not come from a fetus, you once were a fetus;
  • you did not come from an adolescent, you once were an adolescent.

Consequently, each one of us has experienced these various developmental stages of life. None of these stages, however, imparted to us our humanity.

Beckwith describes the process from implantation through the first 30 days in the womb:

Within one week after conception, implantation occurs — the time at which the conceptus “nests” or implants in her mother’s uterus.

During this time, and possibly up to fourteen days after conception, a splitting of the conceptus may occur resulting in the creation of identical twins. In some instances the two concepti may recombine and become one conceptus. . . .

At about three weeks, a primitive heart muscle begins to pulsate.

Other organs begin to develop during the first month, such as a liver, primitive kidneys, a digestive tract, and a simple umbilical cord.

This developing body has a head and a developing face with primitive ears, mouth, and eyes, despite the fact that it is no larger than half the size of a pea. Toward the end of the first month (between 26 and 28 days) the arms and legs begin to appear as tiny buds.

A whole embryo is formed by the end of the first month.

From the eighteenth day after conception, substantial development of the brain and nervous system occurs. This is necessary because the nervous system integrates the action of all the other systems.

By the end of the twentieth day the foundation of the child’s brain, spinal cord, and entire nervous system will have been established.

By the sixth week, this system will have developed so well that it is controlling movements of the baby’s muscles, even though the woman may not be aware she is pregnant.

At thirty days the primary brain is seen.

By the thirty-third day the cerebral cortex, the part of the central nervous system which governs motor activity as well as intellect, may be seen.

Second Month

Despite its small size, the unborn child by the beginning of the second month looks distinctly “human” (although — as this article maintains — it is human from conception). At this point it is highly likely that the mother does not even know she is pregnant.

Brain waves can be detected in the unborn at about forty to forty-three days after conception.

During the second month, the eyes, ears, nose, toes, and fingers make their appearance; the skeleton develops; the heart beats; and the blood — with its own type — flows.

The unborn at this time has reflexes and her lips become sensitive to touch.

By the eighth week her own unique fingerprints start to form, along with the lines in her hands.

A vast majority of abortions are performed during this time, despite the scientific facts which clearly show that an individual human life is developing, as it would after birth, from infant to child to adolescent to adult.

Can the fetus feel pain at this stage? Beckwith answers:

In an important article, Professor John T. Noonan argues that it is reasonable to infer that toward the end of the second month of pregnancy the unborn has the ability to feel pain. It is crucial to remember that the end of the second month (7 to 8 1/2 weeks) is in the first trimester, a time at which a great majority of abortions are performed and at which the Supreme Court said a state may not prohibit abortions performed by a licensed practitioner. From the facts of brain and nerve development, the pained expressions on the faces of aborted fetuses, the known ability to experience other sensations at this time, and the current methods by which abortions are performed, Noonan concludes from his research that as soon as a pain mechanism is present in the fetus — possibly as early as day 56 — the methods used will cause pain. The pain is more substantial and lasts longer the later the abortion is. It is most severe and lasts the longest when the method is saline poisoning.

“Whatever the method used, the unborn are experiencing the greatest of bodily evils, the ending of their lives. They are undergoing the death agony. However inarticulate, however slight their cognitive powers, however rudimentary their sensations, they are sentient creatures undergoing the disintegration of their being and the termination of their vital capabilities. That experience is painful in itself.”

Third Month

Movement is what characterizes the third month of pregnancy.

Although she weighs only one ounce and is comparable in size to a goose egg, the unborn begins to swallow, squint, and swim, grasp with her hands, and move her tongue.

She also sucks her thumb.

Her organs undergo further development. The salivary glands, taste buds, and stomach digestive glands develop — as evidenced by her swallowing and utilization of the amniotic fluid.

She also begins to urinate.

Depending on the unborn’s sex, primitive sperm or eggs form.

Parental resemblance may already be seen in the unborn’s facial expressions.

Fourth Month

Growth is characteristic of the fourth month.

The weight of the unborn increases six times — to about one-half her birth weight.

Her height is between eight and ten inches long and she can hear her mother’s voice.

Fifth Month

In the fifth month of pregnancy the unborn becomes viable. That is, she now has the ability, under our current technological knowledge, to live outside her mother’s womb. Some babies have survived as early as twenty weeks.

The fifth month is also the time at which the mother begins to feel the unborn’s movements, although mothers have been known to feel stirrings earlier. This first movement was traditionally called quickening, the time at which some ancient, medieval, and common-law scholars thought the soul entered the body. Not having access to the biological facts we currently possess, they reasoned that prior to quickening it could not be proven that the unborn was “alive.” Current biology, by conclusively demonstrating that a biologically living human individual is present from conception, has decisively refuted this notion of “quickening,” just as current astronomy has refuted the geocentric solar system.

During the fifth month, the unborn’s hair, skin, and nails develop.

She can dream (rapid eye movement [REM] sleep) and cry (if air is present).

It is, however, perfectly legal under Roe v. Wade and Doe v. Bolton to kill this unborn human being by abortion for any reason her mother so chooses.

Sixth through Ninth Months

In the remaining four months of pregnancy the unborn continues to develop.

The child’s chances of survival outside the womb increase as she draws closer to her expected birthday.

During this time she responds to sounds, her mother’s voice, pain, and the taste of substances placed in the amniotic fluid.

Some studies have shown that the child can actually learn before it is born.

The child is born approximately 40 weeks after conception.

Summary

Beckwith summarizes:

In summary, the pro-life advocate believes that full humanness begins at conception for at least four reasons, which were evident in the above presentation of fetal development:

  1. At the moment of conception a separate unique human individual, with its own genetic code, comes into existence — needing only food, water, shelter, and oxygen in order to grow and develop.

  2. Like the infant, the child, and the adolescent, the conceptus is a being who is in the process of becoming. She is not a becoming who is striving toward being. She is not a potential human life but a human life with great potential.

  3. The conceptus is the sexual product of human parents, and whatever is the sexual product of members of a particular mammalian species, is itself a unique individual member of that species.

  4. And the same being that begins as a zygote continues to birth and adulthood. There is no decisive break in the continuous development of the human entity from conception until death that would make this entity a different individual before birth. This is why it makes perfect sense for any one of us to say, “When I was conceived…”

Planned Parenthood: Let Justice Roll Down

O Preacher This video is damning.  And sickeningly distressing.

Planned Parenthood’s defense?  Deny doing anything illegal.  And defame the Center for Medical Progress by claiming the videos are “heavily edited”.

Nothing illegal?  “First passed by Congress in 1976, the Hyde Amendment ensures that abortion is not covered in the comprehensive health care services provided by the federal government through Medicaid.  Congress has made some exceptions to the funding ban, which have varied over the years.  At present, the federal Medicaid program mandates abortion funding in cases of rape or incest, as well as when a pregnant woman’s life is endangered” (National Committee for a Human Life Amendment).

According to Fox News, roughly $5 million in tax money is given every year to Planned Parenthood.  Over the last ten years the organization has received more than $4 billion in state and federal aid.  Does it matter which accounting column the money is recorded in?  Obviously the money, one way or another, is used for abortions, despite their ludicrous protests.

But according to today’s “Wall Street Journal”, a bill to strip Planned Parenthood of federal funding “isn’t expected to garner the 60 votes needed to advance, as nearly all Democrats object to it.  Its defeat, however, won’t end the effort to cut off federal money for Planned Parenthood.”  We’ll see.

Defame the Center for Medical Progress.   In her first live interview about the controversy, Planned Parenthood Federation of America President Cecile Richards, said the organization has broken no laws and slammed the group that produced the videos, the Center for Medical Progress.

“The folks behind this, in fact, are part of the most militant wing of the anti-abortion movement that has been behind, you know, the bombing of clinics, the murder of doctors in their homes and in their churches,” she told ABC’s “This Week.” “And that’s what actually needs to be looked at.”  No defense but “not guilty” of lawbreaking.  Nothing about morality.  Nothing about the content of the videos.   And, of course, attack the folks who expose the atrocities.

To be fair, Planned Parenthood provides other services.  “About News” claims only 3% of Planned Parenthood’s  services are for abortions, while “97% includes testing and treatment of sexually transmitted diseases, contraception, cancer screening and prevention, and pregnancy testing and prenatal services.”  According to an opinion column in “Bangor Daily  News” reducing Planned Parenthood’s funding “means poor women will go without breast and cervical cancer screening, HIV tests and sexually transmitted disease treatment. Punishing these women for political gain or to further a moral ideology — while doing it so deceptively — is wrong and hurtful.”  I thought Obamacare was supposed to take care of that.  And methinks a bit more “moral ideology” is sorely needed.

The church must be a prophetic voice.  That’s why I write about this again.  Not prophetic in terms of telling the future, but in terms of telling the truth of God’s Word.  Listen to the prophets . . .

” . . . learn to do right!  Seek justice, encourage the oppressed.  Defend the cause of the fatherless, plead the case of the widow” (Isaiah 1:17).

“Woe to those . . . who acquit the guilty for a bribe, and deprive the innocent of his right” (Isaiah 5:22,23).

“No one calls for justice; no one pleads his case with integrity. They rely on empty arguments and speak lies; they conceive trouble and give birth to evil” (Isaiah 59:4).

“But let justice roll on like a river, righteousness like a never-failing stream!” (Amos 5:24).

There is no justice when . . .  900 innocent, unborn are slaughtered by Planned Parenthood every day (csnews.com).  There is no justice when accounting practices allow Planned Parenthood to use our tax dollars for abortion in violation of the Hyde Amendment—and our government turns its back.  There is no justice when aborted human body parts are trafficked and the whistle-blowers are attacked.  There is no justice when intelligent people look at ultra-sounds and refuse to acknowledge a human, unborn baby and a Planned Parenthood medical assistant looks at scattered body parts and exclaims, “It’s a boy!”  A boy.

Speak!  If you haven’t yet, please consider contacting our two U.S. Senators from Florida and urge them to defund Planned Parenthood.  Remember our tax dollars help fund these depraved, murderous acts!

Senator Bill Nelson may be contacted via email at http://www.billnelson.senate.gov/

And Senator Marco Rubio may be contacted at http://www.rubio.senate.gov/public/.

May our Father have mercy and stop this slaughter!

Planned Parenthood: The Dark Side

O Preacher My stomach sickens and blood boils watching recent secret Planned Parenthood videos.  This one is the worst.

Provided by The Center for Medical Progress and released this morning, I received it from Justin Taylor’s blog, “Between Two Worlds.”  More are expected to follow.

This isn’t meant for information only.  It’s meant to move us all to action.

What might the Lord have us do?  Of course, pray.  Secondly, consider contacting our two U.S.

It will take just a few minutes.  And we will be obedient to the sobering words of Proverbs 24:11,12 . . .

Rescue those who are being taken away to death;
hold back those who are stumbling to the slaughter.
If you say, “Behold, we did not know this,”
Does not he who weighs the heart perceive it?
Does not he who keeps watch over your soul know it?
And will he not repay man according to his work?

Remarkable Abortion Commentary

O PreacherWhen’s the last time you heard abortion commentary like this on secular TV news?

Last evening Brit Hume, senior political analyst for Fox News, delivered this powerful commentary.  You can access it at the link below.  (Sorry, I couldn’t grab it any other way.  It’s worth going through the process, though.)

Whatever anyone thinks of Fox, let’s remember this was spoken in a secular setting and heard wherever Fox News is found.  The Lord sure has a way of getting his views out!

May he use Hume’s words and the sickening report of body-parts-trafficking to save more unborn lives made in His image!

Orcas, Horses and Babies

Bigger photo than usual to better see three of my grandchildren—Nicholas, Channing and Faith (clockwise from front).   Children are a precious gift from God, made in his image.  Therefore, human life—every one— is sacred.

I just finished reading Oklahoma Republican Senator James Lankford’s address to the U. S. Senate.  It’s available on video above and in text below (from Denny Burke’s blog—http://www.dennyburk.com/may-senator-lankfords-appeal-be-heard-and-heeded-from-sea-to-shining-sea-senatorlankford-plannedparenthood/.)

His argument isn’t new, just especially timely given the recent alleged admission by Planned Parenthood’s Senior Director of Medical Services, Dr. Deborah Nucatola, that PP sells aborted body parts for research  (https://theoldpreacher.com/unborns-body-parts-for-sale/).  Abortion, of course, is the evil; trafficking in body parts just makes it more despicable.

I hope we’ll all listen and read and pray for God’s mercy on this nation, which surely lies under his wrath, and for God’s power to stop this ongoing slaughter.

Mr. President, I’d like to take just a moment to be able to speak about a subject that’s very, very difficult for me to speak about, and quite frankly difficult for a lot of Americans to talk about and hear about. It connects to all of us, in extremely personal ways. Let me set some context. Not long ago a group of animal rights activists gathered around a research facility, a research facility that was using animals for their testing. The activists gathered around the facility and chanted and has signs that they held up saying ‘it’s not science, it’s violence.’ And other signs that said ‘animal lives are their right, we have just begun to fight.’ As they protested to protect the lives of the animals that were being used in that facility for research.

Now, I understand their frustration there. But let me put it into context of some things that came out this week. We learned that this week an organization called Planned Parenthood is using children that are aborted and sending the bodies of those aborted children to research facilities, sometimes for sale, different body parts, to be used in research. These are not mice, these are not lab rats, these are children. Children that have gone through the process of a horrific abortion.

This morning in an Appropriations hearing, that the President and I both were in, we had extensive conversation about the rights of orca whales. And this protracted conversation went on and on, that many people were also connected to, about the rights of orca whales and the care for them. Then we had a protracted conversation about horse slaughter and how horses would be humanely put down. But in the middle of all that conversation happening today, there were children still being aborted with an instrument reaching into a mother, tearing apart a child but carefully protecting certain organs because those organs would be valuable to sell.

Now, the challenge that we have on this as a nation is, the argument is for that baby. That baby’s really not a baby, it’s just a fetus, it’s tissue. That’s not a human baby is what everyone is told. That’s just tissue and it’s up to the mom to determine what happens to that tissue. And then on the flip side of it moments later they take that tissue and then sell it because it’s human organs that are needed for research. You can’t say in one moment that’s not a human and then sell it for the next moment as a human organ and say now suddenly it is. It was a human all the way through. There was never a time that wasn’t a child, never a time that wasn’t a human, and it seems the ultimate irony to me that we spend time talking about humane treatment of animals being put down like in horse slaughter and we completely miss children being ripped apart in the womb and their body parts being sold.

So here’s how it happens. A mom comes into a facility, gives consent to have an abortion, makes that request. After that request is made, to some moms — and we don’t know exactly how they choose which moms — to some moms they then ask consent for their child after it’s aborted to be used for research purposes. From the video that was put out this week, they said that was actually comforting to some moms that they would know how traumatic the abortion is, at least some good would come out of it, that those body parts would then be used for research to hopefully save other children, which again comes back to this ultimate irony that we would literally tear one child apart in an abortion with the assumption that hopefully would help some other child in the future, missing out on the significance of the child that’s right there that could be helped by protecting their life.

And then the doctor in this particular video gives the details of how once they get that consent from the mom, they would be careful to reach in and actually crush the head of the child to kill the child in the womb so they could preserve the rest of the organs because the kidney has value, the liver has value, because the lungs have value, because the muscles in the legs have value. I would tell you that child has value. And that every single adult that can hear me right now was once 20 weeks old in the womb and we can look at each other and understand the difference between that child in the womb and any of us now is time. That’s a human being we’re talking about.

And it doesn’t bring me comfort to know that one child is torn apart so that maybe they can do research on the child’s organs to in some future moment help a different child. Not every woman is being asked that her aborted child would be used for research and we really don’t know the whys. Maybe they’re looking for particularly healthy moms. Maybe they’re looking for very mature, healthy babies. Maybe it’s a situation where a particular mom couldn’t afford to have the abortion procedure and so they swap off and say if you can’t afford to have the abortion procedure maybe we can cover the cost by then possibly selling some of these organs then. We don’t know. But I think maybe the question needs to be asked.

Why this Congress would spend time today debating horse slaughter and debating orca whales, but yet we’ve become so numb to children that the other debate doesn’t seem to come up. Maybe we need to start again as a nation, asking a basic question. If that’s a child, and in our Declaration [of Independence] we said every person that we believe is endowed by our Creator to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, maybe we need to ask as a nation again, do we really believe that?

Let’s start with some basic things. How about a child at 20 weeks that we know scientifically can feel pain? We cannot have their limbs ripped apart in an abortion. There are only seven countries in the world that allow that. We’re in a prime group like North Korea and China with nations that still allow abortions that late. We should ask that question again – is that really who we are as America? Maybe we need to ask the question again with Planned Parenthood, who we give half a billion dollars in funding to, maybe this is not a good idea. And other organizations that serve people all over the country who raise their funds separately, and don’t do it by federal funds. Maybe that’s a legitimate question that we need to ask?

Mr. President… we have hard questions to deal with as a Nation. Budget, regulations, future direction that we’re going. Why don’t we add to the list, do we really care about children or not? And on a day that we passed an education bill, before we pat ourselves on the back saying how much we care about children, let’s make sure we’re dealing with a compassion for children at every age, not just at certain ages. Have we really become this numb? How do we turn it around? With that I yield back.

Unborns’ Body Parts for Sale

O PreacherThis video sickens me.  I hope it does you, too.  Now (with our tax dollars!) not only does Planned Parenthood perform abortions, it seems irrefutable that they sell the babies’ body parts.

In my view, most abortions are child sacrifice, an abomination against God who created us in his image.  “Are you not children of transgression . . . you . . . who slaughter your children in the valleys . . . ?” (Isaiah 57:4,5).  What, then, shall we call the selling of their body parts for financial profit?  Dr. Deborah Nucatola, senior director of medical services for Planned Parenthood, discusses this “business deal” while casually eating dinner and drinking wine!

I planned to write the next installment of our Mark study today.  But this is too shockingly evil to overlook.  We must be informed!  And we must do what we can—everything from praying to emailing our reps in Washington.

So I hope you’ll make the time to read the blogs below.  The first is from Dr. Albert Mohler.  The second is from the “National Review”.  And the third is from “Focus on the Family.”  It contains an easy way to do the emailing I mentioned above.

How often these days national and world events have pointed me back to these sobering and frightening words of the apostle Paul . . .

The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of men who suppress the truth by their wickedness, since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them.  For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities– his eternal power and divine nature– have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse.  For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened.  Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools  and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images made to look like mortal man and birds and animals and reptiles.  Therefore God gave them over in the sinful desires of their hearts to sexual impurity for the degrading of their bodies with one another.  They exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator– who is forever praised. Amen.  Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural relations for unnatural ones.  In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed indecent acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their perversion.  Furthermore, since they did not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, he gave them over to a depraved mind, to do what ought not to be done.  They have become filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed and depravity. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit and malice. They are gossips,  slanderers, God-haters, insolent, arrogant and boastful; they invent ways of doing evil; they disobey their parents;  they are senseless, faithless, heartless, ruthless. Although they know God’s righteous decree that those who do such things deserve death, they not only continue to do these very things but also approve of those who practice them
(Romans 1:18-32).

How can we not be living in the days when God has given this nation over to the consequences of the godlessness we’ve wanted?  Our only hope is in the righteousness of God that he gives through Christ . . .

But now a righteousness from God, apart from law, has been made known, to which the Law and the Prophets testify.  This righteousness from God comes through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference,  for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,  and are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus (Romans 3:21-24).
